Story Sharing for Families, Business & Community

Interviewing, Recording, Producing, & Performing

with Ron O'Reilly

This website is about life witnessing between people:

The people who might archive personal stories for themselves or someone they care deeply about.

And a bit about me, the person they might want to help in the archiving.

(Like all of us, these webpages are still under construction.)

I help people continue stories in which they catch humanity from each other,

even if the telling and the hearing spans great space, time, or many generations.

For people who want the voices, words and personalities of important relatives, companions, and mentors to remain available.

In Personal Histories I interview people to record their personal life stories in their own voice and produce these on audio or video media or in books. The person can recall significant people, events, and actions in his or her experiences that give his or her life its unique character and themes. By recording these stories they can be re-introduced to one's own self and to those who share and care now and in the future. Those audiences then have a chance to hear from (and not just about) a person who helped create their lives.

For people who miss sharing what has and is happening between the lives of family and friends because they 're not with them often.

With MemoryPress I help people collect stories/photos/poems, recollections about somebody or event cherished by a group.  We put these on  permanent web pages dedicated to that favorite subject from family and friends.  Even though these folks are separated by great distance they can create an interactive intimacy and sense of sharing, the feeling of "my people I belonged to" can be kept alive  This service is offered in conjunction with FamilyLearn, LLC, a well-established and respected internet family history firm.

For people who want to leave a testimony to the principles and priorities they lived by, and messages for those who will inherit the caring and wealth they will pass along.

I help then think, talk, and write Life Legacy Letters (ethical "wills") which summarize their wisdom and wishes for those who follow.  These descendents can hear or read what their benefactor hoped her or his legacy would become, and also have person to person messages for significant people.  These are often felt to become the most precious gifts someone has left for others to have.

For people who want to hear stories of humans being human

I also perform stories for adults and children at special occassions.  See the linked pages for my storytelling characteristics and offerings.

For people who want to learn and use stories

I lead trainings, workshops, and consultation in stories for healing, witnessing, reminiscing, and even marketing.

Personal HistoriesInteractive Web Sharing Storytelling

I have liked hearing stories for about as long as I've liked anything, haven't you?  But around 7 years I became aware of not only liking stories, but also of imagining the people and worlds in and beyond the stories, and of the stories in the people and worlds of everyday life, I bet you did too.  In each of the grown-up positions I've played story sharing was among its tools ( see "About Me" ).  My mind can't help but notice how  "People make stories and stories make people." and my ears twitch for stories worth repeating from people worth listening to.

If you have a reason and desire to:

  • help a cherished person tell their personal stories for themself to remember and their families to keep
  • hold in hand and pass around and down a commemoratively bound album or book of memories
  • have a web page dedicatied to exchanging stories and photos about special people and events
  • have stories performed for special gatherings in your family, school or business.
  • have a workshop or training/coaching need to further your own story sharing.

begin a conversation with me to see if we'd like to work together to make a "good idea" into an heirloom possession
